Willenhall railway station

Ends: ongoing

Last updated: 26 July 2023

What’s happening?

2 new railway stations are being built along the Walsall – Wolverhampton line at Darlaston and Willenhall.

Willenhall station will provide quicker and more reliable journeys to places like Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Walsall, reducing congestion and pollution.

The station will have 2 platforms, lifts, ticket machines, information screens and secure bike parking.

For more information about the station visit West Midland Rail Executive’s Walsall line webpage.

Willenhall station

Significant site clearance has already taken place on site at Willenhall station, including the recent demolition of the old recycling centre. Works to stabilise the ground beneath the station site also took place in April.

Regular construction work will begin on the station from the end of April 2023 onwards.

The majority of the work will take place during standard working hours, Monday to Friday, 07.30am to 5.30pm. To ensure the safety of our workers, some work will need to take place on weekends and overnight, when the existing railway lines are not open.

Out of hours work will take place on weekends between the hours of 11pm on Saturday nights and 5.30am Monday mornings.

Expect noise from machinery equipment, including piling rigs, cranes, excavators and dumpers.

We have carefully planned our work to reduce disruption as much as possible. Measures will be in place to monitor and reduce any noise. Lighting will be directed away from neighbouring areas.
