How to travel safely

The West Midlands has one of the safest public transport networks in the UK.

We have a police team called Safer Travel who patrol the network. There is a passenger code of conduct that they enforce.

When you're travelling on public transport, you should:

• Be aware of your surroundings
• Keep valuables out of sight
• Keep keys separate from anything with your address on
• Keep your bag closed
• Put your phone on silent and use it discreetly
• Wait in busy and well-lit places

You can report anti-social behaviour on public transport online.

You can also text us at 83010. You should:

• Start your message with the word 'bus'
• Let us know:
  • What date and time it happened
  • Where it happened, including the route
  • What happened

Walking and cycling near trams

There are trams in the West Midlands. Sometimes you might need to cross tram tracks.

When walking near trams, you should:

• Cross using marked points
• Wait for trams to pass before crossing
• Listen and look both ways
