More people are choosing to travel sustainably than ever before and bus, train and Metro play a huge part in this behavioural change. Linking these with cycling and walking offer the ultimate sustainable travel solution.
With more people choosing to cycle to work, we’ve invested heavily in new or upgraded cycle paths. All our bus, train and tram stations offer cycle racks, storage or hubs. Bus operators are also doing their bit by investing in cleaner, greener vehicles with over 150 being on the road by the end of 2015. You don't have to give up the car completely, why not car share with a colleague or friend?
But there's still room to improve. The West Midlands is still behind other metropolitan areas in the number of journeys taken by bike and on foot. We can also work to reduce pollution in key hotspots in our cities by making small changes to our commute. In fact, leaving your car at home and opting to walk, cycle, use public transport or car share just once a week can cut pollution by 20%!
Why not try integrating sustainable transport into your journey to work, school or leisure. It's easier than you think and we’ve got some great resources available to help.
