Coventry Half Marathon

What’s happening?

The Coventry Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 28 April 2024 with the race starting at 9am from Gosford Street. The finish line will be outside the Cathedral with the last runners expected to cross the line at around 12:45pm.

Around the city, there will be a number of road closures from 4am until 1pm. Some road closures will be lifted sooner and when safe to do so.

Road closures

Facilitating the event will require a number of road closures which are set to be in place between 04:00 and 15:00.


In addition, there will be parking suspensions from Saturday 27th April (18:00) until Sunday 28th April (13:00) to help in the safe running of the event.

Transport advice

By car


If you are driving to Coventry, the Railway Station Car Park is a good option for parking as it only costs £1 per visit on Sundays.


From the Railway Station Car Park it is a 15 minutes walk to the start via Broadgate and the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum.  


If your car is over 2.5m in height, you can use Lower Ford Street Car Park which can be accessed from Junction 3/Sky Blue Way as well as White Street Coach Park which is located off Ring Road Junction 2



By bus


There is a large bus station located in Coventry which serves the city and out-of-town routes.


Bus users can catch the bus into the city centre, then it is roughly a 500m walk or jog up past The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum to the start.  It is only a 10-15 minute bus ride from Bell Green, Foleshill, Holbrooks, Walsgrave or Whitley, or 20-30 minutes from Bedworth, Binley, Canley, Eastern Green, Longford. And it is around 30 minutes if you're travelling from Birmingham International and Nuneaton.



By train


The city is located on the West Coast Main Line which runs from London Euston through Coventry to Birmingham New Street. Other major UK cities including Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh can all be reached directly by train from Coventry. 


Park & Run from Coventry City Council's Railway Station Car Park, which is only £1 per visit on Sundays. This is the red multi-storey building off Warwick Road (Ring Road Junction 6) which has 638 spaces including 16 EV charging bays. There are 35 disabled spaces which are free for blue badge holders.  


From the Railway Station Car Park it is just a 15 minutes walk to the start via Broadgate and the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum.  (*Cars over 2.5m high can use Lower Ford Street Car Park which is accessed from Junction 3/Sky Blue Way. Alternatively, White Street Coach Park is located off Ring Road Junction 2.



By bike/on foot


If you live nearby, why not walk or cycle to the start of the Half Marathon next to Coventry University. Supervised cycle parking will be provided near the start on Gosford Street (bring a lock) and there are West Midlands Cycle Hire Docks nearby on Gosford Street and Cox Street. You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:

Could you change the time of your journey?. Avoid travelling during peak times wherever possible. Plan ahead, check timetables or apps and leave more time for your journey as services will be busier.
