Travel advice
From Tuesday 5 January you should stay home as much as possible to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Travel for key workers and to do essential shopping is allowed and public transport will remain operating safely for those who need it most.
Some services will see small timetable changes over the coming weeks and we will be working with transport operators to review the network. We will always prioritise first and last services and those that key workers rely on. Any service changes will be listed on our bus, train and tram pages so check back regularly for updates.
From Monday 1 February concessionary card holders will be able to travel for free before 9:30am on all bus and tram services, if travelling for a vaccination appointment.
If you have difficulty using public transport due to health reasons and live in one of the seven West Midlands metropolitan district councils, then you may be able to use the Ring and Ride service to attend your vaccination appointment. - for caring responsibilities

Plan ahead
If you can, walk or cycle for short journeys and if you do need to use public transport remember to:
- Avoid travelling at busy times
- Wear a face covering (unless exempt)
- Socially distance
- Use hand sanitiser and wash your hands as soon as possibl
Stay safe on public transport
We're working hard to keep everyone safe and there are things that you can do too:
- Please wear a face covering in transport hubs and on board
- Keep space between yourself and others
- Carry hand sanitiser and wash your hands before and after travelling
- Pay for your tickets in advance or use contactless where possible
What's being done to keep you safe
The safety of customers and staff is everyone's top priority. So, in line with government guidance, we have worked with operators to put in place extra measures:
- Extra cleaning on buses, trains and trams
- Measures to help guide you to keep your distance
- The safer travel partnership is working to enforce the use of face coverings
Car Sharing
You should try not to share a vehicle with those outside your household or support bubble.
If you need to, there is safety guidance for you to follow.
Face Covering
You must wear a face covering when in a transport hub or onboard, unless exempt. We’ve pulled together lots of information on how to make your own face covering, how to dispose of one and where and when you need one.
