Older Peoples Pass

OAPs on transport

All older people and eligible people with a disability are entitled to free travel, on bus only, between the hours of 9.30am to 11.00pm, Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays anywhere in England.

If you are a resident of one of the seven districts of the West Midlands county (Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall or Wolverhampton), you will also be able to travel free on bus, rail and Metro services, within the Network West Midlands area only, until the end of daytime service (which is an enhancement provided by WMPTA).

If you have reached the age of entitlement and live in the West Midlands County, you are entitled to free travel which means you can use one of the best public transport networks in the country.

So, whether you're travelling to the shops, visiting friends and family or enjoying a day out at one of the many attractions in the West Midlands, your travel pass will help you make the most of your leisure time or retirement.

You can apply up to one month before you reach the age of entitlement.

This also applies if you are an older person and have recently moved into the Centro area.

To qualify for the pass issued by Centro you must live permanently in the West Midlands county (Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall or Wolverhampton) and have reached the age of entitlement (see table below).

There is also a ready reckoner tool which enables people affected by the pension age changes to see at what age they become eligible for their state pension and associated benefits. This can be found on the DirectGov website.

The changes to the age of eligibility will not impact on anyone already in possession of a bus pass.
The changes will only affect those due to turn 60 on or after 6 April 2010 and will bring eligibility for the national bus concession into line with changes to other entitlements that have already been announced by the Department for Work and Pensions, such as the change in the age of eligibility for the Winter Fuel Allowance.

Click on the link to download the application form and then take the completed form to any of the Check and Send outlets across the Network West Midlands area to complete the application process.
