Older Persons Pass

Bus

Older people who are eligible for an English National Concessionary Travel Pass - can travel free on the bus anywhere in England during 'off-peak' times.

Off-Peak times
Between 9.30 am and 11.00 pm Monday to Friday.
All day at weekends and on Bank Holidays.

Centro issued passes
In the West Midlands - free travel on the bus, train and Metro.
Valid from 9.30 am until the end of daytime service Monday to Friday.
Valid anytime at weekends and on Bank Holidays.

If you need to travel before 9.30 am Monday to Friday you can either pay the fare or you can buy a season ticket.

Eligibility

To qualify for a pass issued by Centro you must live permanently in one of the seven Districts of the West Midlands below:

  • Birmingham
  • Coventry
  • Dudley
  • Sandwell
  • Solihull
  • Walsall
  • Wolverhampton 

If you do not live in one of the seven Districts above please contact your Local Authority for details of how to apply in your area.

Check the date you will be eligible for a pass.

If you were born after 5 April 1950 - the age you become eligible is tied to changes in the State Pension age for women. This affects men and women.

If you were born before 6 April 1950
You're eligible for an older person's bus pass from your 60th birthday.

Women born after 5 April 1950
Woman born after 5 April 1950 are eligible when they reach pensionable age.

Men born after 5 April 1950
Men born after 5 April 1950 are eligible when they reach the pensionable age of a woman born on the same day.

 
 
Lost Pass Replacements

Call our ticketing team to arrange a replacement. A fee of £7.50 will be charged to replace your concessionary travel pass. Payment can be made over the phone using a credit or debit card.

If your pass has been stolen and you have a crime reference number you will not need to pay the administration fee to replace it.
