The U16 Photocard

Having hassle proving your age when using public transport? The U16 card takes care of that.

  • The U16 card proves to drivers and inspectors that you are entitled to a child's fare, even if you look older.
  • Use this card to get a child fare when paying cash or when buying and using child rate season tickets on the bus, train and Metro.

  • The U16 card is plastic and has your photograph engraved on it.

The 16-18 Photocard

16-18 photocard

  • Are you in full time education, (minimum 12 hours per week)?
  • Are you under 18 before the 1st September of the current academic year?
  • Do you live in the West Midlands County in a property that is eligible for Council Tax to one of these seven District Councils Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Wolverhampton?
  • You are not in recept of any payment in connection with your studies.

Answered yes to all these?

Then you are eligible for the 16-18 photocard which entitles you to child rate season tickets or child rate cash fares to and from school or college within the Network West Midlands area.

  • Valid for the current academic year only, the card costs £10.
  • Application forms are available from your school or college. Ask your teacher/tutor for details.
  • Application forms should be sent to Centro by post and must be stamped by your school/college to confirm you are in full time education.
  • During the month of September applicants waiting for the 16-18 Photocard can buy child rate tickets valid for a term or more using them without a photocard but only until the end of September of the current academic year.
  • Season tickets will not be valid from the 1st October without a valid photocard.
  • Child rate tickets valid for less than a term or child rate cash fares can only be obtained after the 16-18 Photocard has been received.
  • 16-18 Photocards cannot be used to purchase child rate day tickets or for the purchase of tickets for travel outside the Network West Midlands area with the exception of child rate rail add-ons to an networknjpgnetwork ticket.
  • It is the responsibility of students to ensure that they are entitled to a 16-18 Photocard before purchasing child rate tickets. No refunds will be given to students who have purchased tickets who then find they are not eligible for the 16-18 Photocard.
