Stourbridge Bus Station2

Stourbridge Interchange - progress update

Work is continuing to progress on the redevelopment of the new Stourbridge Interchange and it remains on target to open in Spring 2012.

The steelwork frame, glazing and roof for the main facilities building are complete. Inside, works are progressing on installing the customer information and fire alarm systems, and completion of the new public toilets, retail area and manager's office. On the adjacent waiting area building the steelwork frame, glazing and roof are also complete. Works are progressing to complete the internal layout. In addition to the inverted conical canopies, a perimeter canopy has been installed around the site. Below ground level, works are progressing to the subway floors. As the project moves forward, work will continue to complete the buildings and external works around the site.

The new station will provide major improvements for passengers in Stourbridge and we are pleased that the work remains on track.

Stourbridge Interchange - Improved facilities

The new scheme which will be called Stourbridge Interchange, will have an impressive facilities building and concourse which will serve the majority of bus stands.

Other waiting areas will also be of a high quality, spacious design to improve passenger circulation and comfort.

The features in the new facilities building will include toilets, a unit which could provide passenger information and tickets, and electronic passenger information boards which will tell passengers when their bus is due. There will also be CCTV, help points, an internal public address system and automatic pedestrian access doors that only open when the bus arrives.

Walking routes

There are five walking routes into the town centre. Whilst construction takes place we will need to close one or two of the routes at a time for some periods during the project.

We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause and we will try and keep disruption to a minimum. We will ensure that people will always be able to access the town centre. Route closures will be displayed on this website and on local information boards (see stop location map for locations of boards). Walking routes
