The new bus station

Centro's new state-of-the-art bus station has a range of features designed to provide a safe, comfortable and attractive environment.

The new bus station has two modern, high-quality waiting areas with electronic doors that open when a bus arrives.

Other benefits include: closed circuit television and help points for extra security, electronic passenger information to make using the bus much easier, an attractive entrance canopy which creates a landmark feature into the Cornbow Centre and a spacious paved area which links the bus station to the shops.

Users of the Ring and Ride bus service will be dropped off and picked up at their own dedicated bus shelter just ahead of bus drop off point A on the Queensway.

Improvements to road layout

Dudley Council has realigned a section of Queensway between Andrew Road and Church Croft. The new road layout includes: three pedestrian crossings near to the bus station, traffic calming measures and the introduction of a 20mph speed limit. The pedestrian crossings are located outside Barclays Bank, opposite the entrance to the Cornbow Centre and near to the Husky Dog Island. The Queensway will continue to be one-way from the High Street to Church Croft with the road then being two-way beyond. Traffic from Church Croft will only be able to turn right onto Queensway.

The Cornbow Centre

Vale Retail has undertaken a major regeneration of the Cornbow Centre which includes a new Asda store on two levels and extended lower level shop units. The existing car park has been replaced with a larger, new multi-storey car park over the Asda store. In a scheme which responded to the needs of the town on this highly visible site Vale has enhanced Halesowen as a shopping focus and improved the facilities available to shoppers and the general public.
